User reviews from people who actually opened the box

These aren't blurbs from people who met me at a conference. These are the producers, engineers, executives, and leaders who were in the room — or the control room, the studio, the edit bay, or the all-hands meeting where everything was on the line.

They've seen the system under pressure. They've watched it scale. They know what's inside.

Geoff is an exemplary partner and leader who brings to his teams expertise gained from numerous successful audiovisual projects he has led or contributed to. His knowledge of the intricacies of complex projects, both live and recorded, and his ability to find short- and long-term infrastructure solutions to ensure production success, even during the most challenging times (COVID-19 pandemic) are complemented by an immense capacity for meticulous planning and a remarkable ability to listen and empathize with the team members he works with. We are talking about a respected, deeply fair, and humane leader, capable of getting the best out of his teams and adapting to challenging and high-pressure environments.

To put it simply, the thousands of video and streaming hours produced across all the Yahoo and Verizon Media portfolio of brands, across all the U.S., U.K. and Canada would not have been possible without Geoff’s vision, expertise and management skills.

For my part, I learned a great deal from Geoff, in particular that technical knowledge is nothing without an immense ability to unite and to believe that the best way to lead teams is to make them see that success is within reach if it is well organized and the result of a collective effort.

For that I will always be grateful to Geoff and consider him a a mentor.

Francois Guerin, Chief Business Officer, MARCA & Radio MARCA, Former VP of Media and Studios Operations at Yahoo / Verizon Media

Geoff possesses a rare mix of strategic foresight, engineering rigor, and genuine calm under pressure. In the years I worked for him at Yahoo Studios, he scaled the operation 400% while the company itself was in constant flux, and he did it without ever raising his voice or losing the room. He thinks 5-10 steps ahead, which is how he survived and thrived at Yahoo for a quarter century, a place that chewed up plenty of good folks. Every leader he worked with knew it, and every person on his team felt it. He trusted me with real autonomy to build, and he taught me how to look around corners and see the problem coming before it landed on the floor. That skill has shaped how I lead every team since. Any organization would be lucky to have Geoff and better for it.

Geoff Nelson is the kind of leader who consistently delivers results while elevating everyone around him.  He has a rare ability to cut through complexity and simply get things done efficiently, thoughtfully and with a clear focus on what’s best for the business.

What sets Geoff apart is his forward-thinking approach to technology.  He doesn’t chase trends for the sake of it.  Instead, he takes the time to study and truly understand emerging tools and workflows.  When he adopts new technology, it’s always with purpose, driving smarter production strategies, improving efficiency and positioning his team for long-term success.

Geoff is also a highly strategic and disciplined decision-maker.  As a frugal leader, he carefully weighs every investment, ensuring resources are used in ways that maximize impact.  At the same time, his deep network within the AV industry is an incredible asset.  He always knows the right people to bring in, no matter the challenge.

Perhaps most importantly, Geoff leads with integrity and a genuine commitment to his team.  He has a keen eye for talent and excels at placing people in roles where they can thrive and contribute at their highest level.  His leadership creates an environment where individuals feel valued, supported and empowered to do their best work.

In every sense, Geoff is a leader who balances innovation, practicality and people-first thinking and that combination drives real, lasting success.

Production work is complex array of technology and personalities.  Deploy the wrong solution and you lose hundreds of thousands of dollars. Fail to navigate the tempest of egos and creative differences and you lose the faith of your team.

For more than a decade I witnessed Geoff lead through countless scenarios that would have reduced a less accomplished leader to goo. His steady hand has guided tens of thousands of productions every year. In studio, in the field, in post production, full remi production environments, graphic departments, broadcast infrastructure, branding development, virtual and augmented reality production are all arrows in his quiver.

You can’t buy leadership experience like this at B&H. It’s forged in the 14th hour of a field shoot. Tempered in meetings with C-Suite executives arguing in favor of spending money on innovation even in the face of budget cuts. Sharpened when listening to the anxiety of green direct reports and finding the ways to unlock their potential.

He has led more studio builds in the last 10 years than anyone in the industry should ever have to. Geoff would be a tremendous asset to anyone lucky enough to bring him on board.

I had the distinct honor having a front row seat to Geoff Nelsons through an impactful portion of his legendary work at Yahoo. I can say without hesitation that he is true leader, and business driver, who can make the impossible a reality (under budget!).

Geoffs extraordinary ability to harness even the most complex projects gave birth to 14 world-class production facilities and countless complex techoogy uplifts around the globe. His ability to leverage his seemingly endless wealth knowlege and experience made his success seem effortless. Being a part of those teams was one of the true joys of my career.

It is not an understatement to say, as he will likely be to humble to say it himself,  that the Digital Media industry would not be what it is today without the foundational work Geoff did in the studio technology space.

Geoff has been the steady hand and visionary heart of Digital Media, whose energy, deep experience inspired everyone around him. Whether building ground breaking facilities or coordinating sophisticated digital broadcast operations  around the world,  Geoff’s expertise and character made him more than just a leader—he is a lifelong friend and a titan of our industry. It has been the honor of a career to “bleed purple” as we say at Yahoo, with him.

Eric Toth, Director of Studio Technology & Innovation, Yahoo, Inc.

I worked with Geoff Nelson for over 12 years at Yahoo and was part of the teams that built and upgraded broadcast studio facilities in eleven locations from California to New York and London.

Geoff led the team for the various projects –and this required complex project management skills.

For successful completion of these projects a thorough understanding on the internal company procedures was critical.

Geoff negotiated with the selected vendors to get the best deals for Yahoo and had the technical expertise to understand their processes – including permits, labor issues and more. Each facility had complicated studio set design, lighting requirements, comprehensive HVAC needs plus UPS and backup generator needs – and Geoff had no problems in dealing with the varied vendors to discuss details.

As projects proceeded and issues arose that required resolution, Geoff was able to work with his team to analyze, provide innovative and constructive options and help move the projects forward towards successful completion on time and at or under budget.

After completion and with these various studio facilities online, Geoff managed the technical and operations teams that worked in the multiple facilities. This included both full time staff and freelance contractors and sometimes numbered over 200 in total – depending on the time of year and the projects in process.

Working with Geoff has been one of the most rewarding partnerships I've experienced in my time at Diversified. From day one, he came to the table with a level of technical depth that's genuinely rare, he understood not just what he needed, but why, and that made every conversation more productive and every decision more purposeful.

What really sets Geoff apart is how seamlessly he bridges technical expertise with collaborative leadership. He has a clear vision for where he wants to go, and he communicates it in a way that gets everyone aligned and moving in the same direction, not as a vendor and client, but as a unified team working toward a shared outcome. Our team always left meetings with Geoff feeling energized and focused.

He's the kind of collaborator who elevates the work on both sides of the table. I'd jump at the chance to work alongside him again.
